Hard agree. Protesting against Israel virulently but not the Taliban, Putin and his Wagner group and murder of Ukrainians, or Assads regime in Syria is pretty telling.

We can influence a lot of nations. We could have stopped a million people dying in Rwanda, and we didn't. No one cared. But on this, the right wingers have a point: Reflexive anti-semitism on campuses has become part of the credo of some of the college-educated Dems, and they obsess about Israel.

Excuse meeeeee but I taught this for years and the US and UK subverted any talk of genocide at the UN specifically to avoid triggering the requirement to do anything. General Dallaire wanted 5000 people, a drop in the bucket. (We sent 30,000 to Somalia.) We could have saved a MILLION people.

We weren't *aiding* the Rwanda genocide. It's a total false equivalency of why people are critical of US policy re Israel and Gaza.

When international support for Ukraine depends on them falling strictly in line with external demands, it stops being solidarity and becomes a transaction.

War is the least cool thing in the world. Those who instigate wars are the world’s least cool people. Those who stop them are, indeed, as cool as they come. Ukraine’s defenders do that every day, looking accordingly. And they will end this uncool war in the coolest way.
