i know people’s attention span is garbage so i’m gonna keep this short and to the point.
in case you somehow haven’t heard, this past june 24th, Venezuela got hit by back-to-back 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes. there’s several thousands of people affected by this disaster. death toll keeps rising as people are recovered from under the rubble. it’s been days and there are parts of the country that haven’t received ANY type of help yet. thousands of people are still trapped in the wreckages and have been there for days.
the venezuelan people have been left to their own devices and abandoned by the government, so we’re doing what we can to help.
this is why we need your support.

this is an unprecedented horror for us. needless to say our country is terribly underprepared for something like this. geologists say that the amount of energy the earthquakes released was the rough equivalent of 260 nuclear bombs. over a 100 years of pent up energy releasing all at once in a matter of two minutes.
La Guaira has been flattened. hundreds of buildings have collapsed across several cities, including my hometown Caracas, but La Guaira has had it the worst.

we are currently living in absolute anarchy. we cannot rely on the government for anything, so us civilians have taken matters into our own hands. we are the ones buying the supplies the rescue teams need: shovels, gloves, helmets, corpse bags. a lot of civilians are also getting in there themselves to help uncover the wreckage and save people from under the rubble, because the government didn’t take any action until TWO DAYS after the earthquakes.
international rescue teams were on site much earlier than any national efforts, and have been much more efficient and professional, but they’re still lacking heavy machinery and tools to do their job. the government has these tools, but they are not using them. here they are sitting unused at Fuerte Tiuna, gathering dust.

so what ARE officials actually doing?
filming propaganda tiktoks, doing photo ops and sabotaging rescue efforts.
the Venezuelan regime committing genocide against its own people is nothing new. we’ve been enduring this for decades. but we’ve reached a new kind of low after the earthquakes, because now the national guard are sabotaging rescue efforts and sitting idly as more and more several hundreds of people die under the rubble. they’ve thrown away food meant for the victims. they’re blocking access. they’re looting the wrecked homes of venezuelans. they’re abducting children. when confronted by angry civilians, they just stand there in silence or turn around and ignore them.
