I want to do a story about itty bitty stores in Philly. I have so many questions about this place and Tartes, the tiny standalone bakery in Old City.
I shrieked with glee when this news landed in my inbox today and I beamed with pride when I shoved a Silence Dogood pun into this story. www.inquirer.com/life/philade...
Philadelphia is hosting a ‘National Treasure’ weekend
The three-day event will celebrate one of the best and most absurd films ever partially filmed in Philly.

After visiting Boston two yrs ago, I wrote about walking the city's Freedom Trail. Far from being half-baked, I had to admit the Beantown tourist attraction was “annoyingly great.” I wondered why we didn't have anything similar in Philly. Now, we're about to... www.inquirer.com/life/path-to...
Philly is beta testing its own version of Boston’s Freedom Trail. I tried it and you should too.

The Ryans (Gosling & Reynolds) weren't the only ones with big reveals at San Diego Comic-Con last week. Folks from Philly's @franklininstitute.bsky.social were on a panel with people from Lucasfilm to reveal an inside look at the museum's upcoming Star Wars exhibit. www.inquirer.com/life/star-wa...

Though there’s still some kinks to work out, the Path to Democracy shows a lot of promise. Like democracy itself, we don’t know where it will lead, but it’s a worthy pursuit — and one that requires our participation to succeed. www.inquirer.com/life/path-to...

Philly's got LeBron James, partial claim to the current pope, hosting the World Cup under our belt, and the two best mascots in history. We are unf--kwithable. Can't wait to see what's next.

Philly is losing Cecily but getting LeBron! The celebrity news is wilder than the weather around here these days. www.inquirer.com/sixers/live/...

Listen, I like those two popular songs by Toto and Christopher Cross’ “Ride Like the Wind” is my jam (when I need inspiration on deadline I change the words to “Write Like the Wind”) but wtf is this ad?!? 😂 I don’t know anyone who associates these bands with bongs.
This is great because Philadelphia has a deep pool of parallel-parking talent and also a large population who are not aware that parallel parking exists.

The fed gov may be so scared of the truth about the President’s House site that it ripped panels down, replaced them w/whitewashed ones, set up giant surveillance cameras & stationed 4 park police there…but Philly still finds a way to get the truth out. Spotted across the street from the site.
Pop quiz hot shots: There’s a working trough in Philadelphia. If the trough goes above the high water line, nothing happens. If it goes below the high water line, also nothing happens. Where is it?!? Where is it?!? (Yes I recently rewatched one of my favorite movies)
I have a Gen Z friend who told me last week that they've never mailed anything - ever. I love mailing things and I've loved getting mail ever since we had those fake little mailboxes in grade school. Someone needs to start a Gen Z pen pal program so we don't lose mail like we lost video stores.

Oh I had thoughts on our advice chat this weekend and I shared a personal experience about how Philadelphians will embarrass the hell out of you for word choice and pronunciation, but it’s almost always to save you further embarrassment down the road. www.inquirer.com/life/wawa-pr...
My coworker keeps calling Wawa ‘waWa’
"I’m 1,000-percent going to be calling it 'waWA' from now on."

Even Philly’s stikmen got patriotic for the 250th this year, though these look like they may not be from the og artist.

The deadmau5 concert at Philly's FIFA Fan Fest tomorrow reminds me that my husband and I went to see him at The Met in January 2020. We weren't the oldest people at the show, but we were the oldest people not escorting their teen kids and wondering “WTF is this?!?”
In case you missed it or in case people are still being whiny babies about Philly's booing and you need to set them straight, may I present my latest column: www.inquirer.com/columnists/b...

The best billboard in Philly, except for that one time a guy put up a personal ad on a billboard with a picture of him and his cat, but that was temporary so this remains the GOAT.
During the Revolutionary War, musicians and bandsmen in the Continental Army wore uniforms that were the reverse of their regiment's uniform. So, instead of blue coats w/ red facings, red coats w/ blue facings. The US Army's Fife and Drum Corps wears period uniforms.

I heard some whiny babies were crying about Philly's boos at the Home Run Derby so you know I had to write a column. Our humor is just as brutal as our honesty in Philadelphia and while it may not seem like it on the surface, both come from a place of respect. www.inquirer.com/life/booing-...

I love that Philly is booing players from others teams just for daring to show up and be introduced before our crowd at the Home Run Derby. We are so unserious. I love it.
People are throwing more than pennies on Benny’s grave for the 250th. Someone threw down a couple dollars to try to bribe Mr. Franklin in the afterlife, there’s all sorts of coins, and I love the guitar picks and I’d like to think he would too.
