Pancreatic cancer is so tough. But in an early trial, 7 of 8 patients (87.5%) who responded to a personalized mRNA vaccine + immunotherapy are still alive 6 years after surgery. It's designed to train the immune system to fight remaining cells. Promising, and worth attention.

Even air travel has got better in many respects. Sorry but A380, A350 or 787 are all far better aircraft than 747's or older 777's, and in flight entertainment is incomparably better than the old 'one movie from a projector that everyone has to watch' type set up

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

In general everything that’s accomplished in a private capacity is enabled by the infrastructure, security, and stability of functional governance. You live in a society. There are no millionaires on a desert island.
