I'm going through my collection of cheap old PC games and I found my old Windows 8 laptop that still works (!). It has a disc drive. So I uh... started testing 1998-2005 discs and I can actually play a good chunk of them offline. It even recognizes the DualSense and has HDMI output. Wealth.
My next short story collection includes a story with a similar vibe, inspired by the original Backrooms-style creepypastas and liminal spaces... apparently very hot topic, but it was written 6 years ago I think? Glitchhikers and Paratopic was on my mind as well.

Read "The Last Day of a Condemned Man" by Victor Hugo, this novella was the longest thing I could finish this month (beside a few short comics, I'm still slowly suffering through Catch-22). I hope to read more in August, but this heat...

I refuse to assume that companies will disable your discs, and I still believe the PS4/Xbox One/Switch era is the best for collecting. Buuuut if you can afford a large collection, might as well invest in a cheap used machine and keep it offline with a safe firmware.

There’s Sony boycott discourse on the timeline so my two cents is that boycotting physical releases alongside digital releases is the dumbest fucking idea I’ve ever heard, but also a one week blackout is still pretty silly. Cancel PS+, don’t buy digital, and don’t buy the PS6

A family’s all-too aching, unsupported, and long-suffering tragedy in a delicate and naturalistic impressionism. Temporal flexibility, unfocused memory. A somber recollection of blurring childhood as physical and magic realist time travel.
