Some welcome relief for the Chancellor this morning as CPI inflation came in slightly lower than market expectations at 2.5% in December, down from 2.6% in November. Underlying inflation also looks weaker. Should reduce some of the upward pressure on UK rates. Thread to follow...

New house price and private rents data out this morning – let’s unpack the latest figures! House prices have maintained their positive momentum, as this morning’s ONS figures reveal annual price growth to Sep 24 was 2.9%, up from 2.7% in the year to Aug 24.
