This wouldn't have been an issue if the organization bought a $1,000 NAS and populated it with a few hard drives.

It annoys me how opaque software has become, since I just realized why YouTube was playing so poorly and lagging out the browser in my older but fully optioned Zbook which was used as a CAD workstation, the browsed had decided that it was only going to use the integrated GPU instead of the Quadro.

I hate how endemic furry artist spam and scam accounts have become on Discord, I feel that these days it's a weekly occurrence to receive friend requests from profiles with no shared servers or friends and which mention the person being an artist.

Hmph - I'm once again disillusioned because I'm trying to figure out a good closed circumaural wireless headset with Bluetooth and decent microphone, and I looked into Beyerdynamic MX230 since I have a wired Beyerdynamic headset already. Apparently despite being 250€, the MX230 isn't great...

More Twokinds fan fiction stuff, a futuristic AU where Mary Silverlocke was never overthrown by Trace as the Grand Templar - but nonetheless she still doesn't like it when the Keidran both assert their rights *and* are purposefully bloody-minded twits towards her at the same time. :p

It's honestly frustrating how the main reason why I'm ridding myself of ads on YouTube is because 90% of them are just various kinds of rip-offs or scams, typically AI slop advertizing stuff that's low-grade drop-shipped junk in reality, and the 10% are highly cringy although genuine domestic ads.

A random realization concerning current events - the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine has now lasted longer than how long it took from the beginning of Operation Barbarossa in 1941 to the capitulation of (Nazi) Germany in 1945 - since that period took 3 years, 10 months, and 13-14 days.

After 15 years of extremely reliable and faithful service, my xDSL service was finally shut down permanently at the turn of the month as the operator scrapped the remaining copper services in the region, it was running up until the final moment. Good bye and good night for it.

Since I've been heavily inspired by Tom Fischbach's Twokinds recently, I came up with an OC for a futuristic #Twokinds AU - captain Rauru, a heavily cyborgized and altered Keidran "anti-human" operative who ends up with serious regrets and decides to try to make amends after the end of a major war.

For a change, a SFW sketch for me drawn by Shinigami/Duo A futuristic-era Twokinds-inspired snow leopard OC of mine enduring human attention in order to become more desensitized to it, since it's inevitable in human-populated regions and she wants to be more "human-safe".

A pouting anthro snow leopard standing between two humans while enduring both ear scritches and tail handling, in order to try and become more tolerant of inevitable human attention.

I thought I'd post this piece of personal lore here as well - if someone here has ever wondered where my inspiration for stomach-popping traps comes from, it's from the 1875 Jules Verne book "Mysterious Island" as the later part of the book contains this short section [CW: Cruel hunting methods]:

I'm morbidly amused by how it's 2025 and I still see printing setups in businesses misconfigured so that they mess up 'ä' and 'ö', this time it was the Finnlines boarding pass printer in Kapellskär.

Do YOU want to be held captive by a science lab and be studied? Have a science man give you a designation of danger? Does your character have a neat quirk/ability that would require a cool Hazard Diamond icon? Then you should buy this Abiotic Factor themed YCH! Examples below, DM me if interested!

OKAY!!!! I need people to start pumping the brakes on all of this Discord/DomoAI stuff because a lot of people are just straight up spreading misinformation without looking into things. Here's an image, WITH ALT TEXT (emphasis mine), that explains what's not true, and what IS true.

This was the info I posted to a server of mine, in case this had spread far. I think I summarised it better here:
The claim:
• discord partnered with DomoAI
• this partnership allows any user to pass images to an AI without consent
• server owners are powerless against this
^ NONE OF THIS IS TRUE.

The truth:
• the DomoAI people made a bot
• the bot was submitted to discord's app directory, just like any other bot
• discord accepted the bot to it's app directory, just like any other bot
• the app directory is simply a list of discord bots that you can search through inside of discord
• ALL discord bots which discord has verified are REQUIRED to use slash commands or "application commands" (right click menu on PC, press and hold menu on mobile)
• if a bot dev wants access to text-based commands (like !role or !color etc), the bot has to go through a SECOND application process and prove that their bot is non-functional without such a permission
• server owners CAN prevent both slash and application commands from being used
• if you're in a server that has those permissions denied, the ONLY way someone can use your content in the DomoAI bot is if the person MANUALLY copies your image/text into a place where the bot CAN run
• meaning nothing has changed AT ALL and this is NO DIFFERENT from feeding your image or messages into an AI any other way
