People on TikTok will ask an easily Googled question and you’ll respond “you should google it” because it’s too complicated for a comment section, and dozens of people will call you rude for saying people should not rely on content creators to spoon feed answers constantly like it’s our job…

I am Mexican. My family is Mexican. My grandparents emigrated from Mexico to find a better life and my father was born in America, on land stolen from Mexico. If you support deportation and believe people can be illegal in a country that is built upon stolen land, I hope you rot.

I think about all the art that’ll be lost over the next however many years. Facsists loathe real art. I think of Klimt’s missing paintings. I think of the artist Heba Zagout from Palestine, who died in a bombing. Journalists, writers, musicians, painters.

And people being like “TIKTOK IS DEFILED! It’s all propaganda now!” As if (1) TT didn’t already censor people and allow conservative spaces and thought and (2) as if the purpose isnt about staying in community with followers and creators despite ALL social media apps having vile leaders at the helm

The return is already exhausting Trump being praised as a savior of TikTok or pretending Trump is responsible for the ban when he's been out of office for over four years. Fuck Trump, but sweeping the wider GOP and dem's work of the last year under him is beyond foolish. Learn the lesson.

this is such bullshit. when tiktok was 1st threatened w/ ban by trump, the ownership was sold to the singapore group & all data was moved to Oracle in texas to ensure no funny biz. Georgia Tech did a study of tiktok data practices, finding they match the industry www.cc.gatech.edu/news/case-ti...

However, to Milton Mueller, co-founder and director of the Internet Governance Project (IGP), this focus is diverting attention away from real security and privacy conversations in the technology industry.

“If officials are concerned with privacy, then there would need to be something that applies to all information technology companies,” he said. “Cybersecurity threats from other countries have not come from the websites or services they own, but instead from direct online attacks using shared infrastructure and software.”

As Mueller points out, disinformation and security breaches are not unique to TikTok. For example, the recent intelligence leak from the Pentagon originated on Discord, a social media app that allows users to share voice and video calls, text messages, and media files in private or public chats

Trump’s corrupt TikTok flip-flop exposes his craven national security cabinet His top advisers have called the platform a “Trojan Horse” by Chinese “communists” to “destroy America” and “poison” young minds www.mediamatters.org/tiktok/trump...

I just ordered a bunch of water soluble oils for the first time. Water soluble oils are safer for the environment and less scary to have around a cat. Excited to start! Got some clear gesso so I can paint on paper also (oil eats and breaks down natural fibers)
