Doing some research for some upcoming projects. One requirement is the services/platforms used are not tied US big tech, and ideally are EU based. Anyone have pointers to server-side hosting (SSR sites, API endpoints), email marketing providers, or domain name registrars that might fit the bill?

Getting some film developed from 2025, and pull out these two bangers. - Morning light at Izumo Taisha shrine - Conversation in a Kyoto izakaya

Rays of light filter through surrounding trees casting light onto a curved walking path. A couple are entering the frame from around the bend, walking towards a shrine that is cut off on the left of the frame.A black and white photo of an empty bar table in a Japanese izakaya. At the end of the bar table a man sits in a black suit, conversing with a lady chef dressed in white standing on the other side of the bar table.

Friends, I'll be in Japan for a few days in May and June. I'd love meet with members of the tech community working on: - Japan's energy transition - The sustainability reporting landscape - How Japan is thinking about data center growth and AI If that's you, or someone you know, get in touch!

Amazing work from my Green Web Foundation colleagues. ⚡ State of the Fossil-Free Internet ⚡ The report casts light on the opaqueness of climate disclosures made by the internet's largest players, while highlighting three pathways for an internet that serves everyone. fossilfree.greenweb.org/2026/

State of the Fossil-Free Internet Report

In this first annual briefing by Green Web Foundation, we examine the biggest obstacles to a fossil-free internet. This year’s focus: the rise of too many dirty data centres.

This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.

OKAY BIG ONE FOR YA NEW report out today: I dig deep into how big tech has been muddling tech types and overstating evidence to claim "AI" will make global emissions drop like a stone.... Not only will it not, it seems to be verifiably doing the opposite!! ketanjoshi.co/2026/02/17/b... + 📼+🧵>

'The Wei piece beautifully illustrates a key function of the undefined concept of red lines: they remove agency from Beijing, and place it only on Beijing’s victims.' The Wei piece was an article by Wei Lingling 魏玲靈 in the WSJ about the ongoing PRC-Japan spat. www.taipeitimes.com/News/feat/ar...

China rarely has a policy that China, Taiwan, and Japan all support. 🇨🇳 - no more 🇨🇳 tourist, that’ll show them! 🇹🇼- booked my flight and hotel for Japan in December. 🇯🇵 - wow, can’t believe it’s to easy to get rid of poorly behaved Chinese tourists.
