Which do you prefer? 😀 This is a recent macro photo study I did of Dahlia flowers. I love how it looks like a series of "tubes" which an odd industrial bent about it. To get the shot I used a Vivitar 1:1 100mm macro lens with a set of extension tubes to get roughly 4x life size 📸 #MacroMonday #ECK

The Neues Palais belongs to the royal world Friedrich III was born into in Potsdam, a world of ceremony, dynastic expectation, and carefully ordered court life. Born on 18 October 1831 as Friedrich Wilhelm Nikolaus Karl, he was the son of King Wilhelm I and Augusta of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, and later became German Emperor and King of Prussia for only 99 days in 1888. That short reign took place during the Year of the Three Emperors, one of the most dramatic moments in Prussian and imperial history, when the throne passed rapidly from Wilhelm I to Friedrich III and then to Wilhelm II. In aristocratic and royal households, the birth of a child could be witnessed by selected officials, doctors, and midwives so that the newborn’s identity and legitimacy were beyond dispute; the event was not private in the modern sense, but carefully observed and documented as part of dynastic ceremony. What might look like a family moment today was then also a political act, because every royal birth confirmed continuity, inheritance, and the future of the house.
