Small streamers and content creators, indie game fans, lend me your ears. A nuclear bomb called GTA6 is going to be dropping in November. We're also planning to release a weird little visual novel! There's not much crossover there, but we still want to avoid doom. What month would be best for you?

I'll say it again: Reviews are the best way you can help a game you love (besides telling everyone you know about it!). If you like/love a game, pop a review on their Steam page. It makes the devs day, provides feedback, enhances the search algorithm and tells new players what to look out for.

With regards to that last repost, reviews can mean a lot to smaller developers, so I'm gonna put out a little call to action. Everyone following me? DO THIS NOW! I'm asking for replies so more folks pick this up, and continue it. Please take this graphic and ask your followers to do the same!

"Goto your Steam™ library

Leave a review for a smaller game you like

Now tell me what it was"

There's a very crudely drawn Steam logo in the middle. In the bottom right, there's an even crudely-er drawn frog, and the sideways text reads "I am a graphic design terrorist"

Indies rarely have the resources to produce physical copies, and the PC-only indies like us are facing a collapsed physical market. Our olive branch is being DRM-free. We can't sell you a disk, but you can make your own freely. Back it up. Trade it. Loan it. Play it long after we are gone.

It's Disability Pride Month! Speaking as a disabled game dev who writes disabled characters games, I'm obviously in favor. Disability is a weird thing because no two are alike, no one adaptation or law covers everyone, and there's so many well-intentioned mistakes made. Thanks for being mindful.

Pride month may be ending, but don't end the pride you have inside. Scream it out loud from the rooftops if you must. If anyone screams back, scream louder. Don't let the world deny you. Become ungovernable. Also play our games thank you ok

It's the anniversary of when we uploaded the soundtrack for Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers! Celebrate paying more each year for the privilege of being hosted than we actually make back in streaming royalties, because corporations are more worthy than the artists who supply them with creativity.

It's been super fun to branch out in to all these different styles for FFG's games, from the cartoony to the pixelly. The next game is ramping this up as I've already done full paintings and pixel work with limited palettes.

Update: apparently the RenPy engine has been using AI generated code for an indeterminate amount of time already. I don't know what the cutoff is. Every single project now has AI code. I don't know what this means for our games moving forward. Our current project may be the last one with RenPy.

Gouvernathor@gouvernathor.fr · 2mo ago

Ren'Py development is contributor-based. AI-generated code certainly came much earlier into the codebase, without anyone being able to tell the difference. Hell, it may have been me, brielfy testing github copilot when it first came out. If IDE auto line completion counts, I definitely did it.

Not to toot our own horn but HOOONK HOONK HONK HOOOONK our games will never use generative AI HONK HONK we aren't even updating RenPy anymore because it embraced AI HOONK HONK always check the disclosure warning on steam before getting excited about a game announcement HONK HONK okay done
