this concept album was better than the movie i'll be real LMAO i'm a fan of nolan but damn. the rapid cut editing because imax cameras can't film longer than 3 mins at a time.... it didn't paste a good movie together imo. the dialogue was also Bad. i need to rewatch o brother where art thou now

so i've finally listened to the epic the musical and it's really good! but now i'm realizing my vague awareness of it had blended with another musical and was waiting for an orpheus section that didn't happen. i thought it was like a bunch of random greek myths but no apparently that's hadestown lol

if you are any kind of creative or artist or writer you *have* to understand sex workers and porn/erotica artists/authors as being members of the same class as us. to the extent society recognizes a difference between "legitimate" art and porn, it's only as a tenuous, convenient, temporary fiction.

this sorta reminds me of this new thing of people being like "pole dancing is so awesome, i wish it weren't so sexualized!" when it is an art form developed by strippers. it's not bad for something's primary goal to be sexual arousal! it doesn't mean it's inherently less interesting/good!

there's sort of an impasse w/r/t female-oriented literary smut where it is pretty much just porn, but misogynists think that's disgusting and shameful because they hate women, and the women who read it think that it's so much more than porn because they hate porn.
