- "Guys we need to raise our shareholder value, I can't fit more regular sized yachts on my mega yacht anymore" - "Say no more boss" *proceeds to use AI to spot people who took maternity leave and fire them first* Yeah this not dystopian at all...
You probably don't hate tech companies as much as you absolutely should do
Decided to give CachyOS a go in a spare laptop I had gathering dust and *damn*! I've been missing out... Super polished, grug brain friendly installation and the support for custom desktop environments was a nice surprise! Linux really is amazing 🥲️
The complete elimination of Meta would yield unambiguous, far reaching benefits for global society.
CHAT CONTROL IS BACK → Today the urgent procedure for Chat Control 1.0 was passed. Next up: EU Parliament is voting on Thursday. If Chat Control passes your messages, pictures, videos will all be scanned because the law will require it - this removes privacy & welcomes mass surveillance in the EU.
At this point, I really despise Microsoft with a fiery passion of a thousand suns. Everything they touch eventually turns into a steaming pile of dung. Not even Minecraft is safe 🤦♂️ Imagine a platform that supports self-hosting now calling it "illegal" because they can't generate profit on it.

it needs to start becoming clear that many, many of the best people in the industry are being so affected by the bin fire that ravenous corporations have turned the internet into that they’re leaving it behind it’s bad, and it’s worse without them
Hi, friends. The last 6 years have been a blast, but I just don't like being on The Internet anymore. I'm leaving DevRel, and I wrote a little bit about why. Look after yourselves, and each other. Love, Salma
Hello from mu.social! Gotta say the companion cat has a place in my heart (and feed!) already 😻
We need our networks to focus on news that helps us connect and nudge us to go out and work with others. Show us the gathering of our local communities, the clubs teaching with passion, the online groups learning and building together. There's so much hope out there, behind all the worthless noise.
To the people who create content around tech (blogposts, tutorials, newsletters...): - what keeps you going? Having a hard time focusing on that with all the AI bots crawling and stealing content to then slop out a cheap version of it.. Plus, people just seem to be engaging less?
Sooooo I did something yesterday... 👀 I missed playing around with Ableton 😄

I don't have the capacity / time to build with ATProto, but seeing who builds and who believes and who promotes it makes me believe in ATProto as well 💪 Also gives me joy that many projects use Svelte. This is the way.
I go offline for 3w, come back, and realise the @svelte.dev team has been cooking all this time! Thought I couldn't love it more, but improving the handling of env variables + getting rid of one more config file are super juicy changes 👌🔥
Productivity doesn't matter if you're working on the wrong thing.
My apathy levels for the industry are absolutely sky high and I don’t even have a dickhead boss making me hit token targets
watching the tech industry burn out all the people i know who actually care about delivering things that aren’t perpetually broken, all at the altar of infinite velocity, is making me utterly utterly furious.
Had a little break from life/tech/news to just walk around nature, spend time with friends, read some books and I gotta say... ... feels good. Ignorance really is bliss 😅
Was going through di.day yesterday, and was both surprised and glad to realise I had made the transition on pretty much all services mentioned! I did have an entry on my todos to explore self hosting my own "github"... I guess it's time to get my hands dirty!

It's crazy how this post could literally be in my blog almost word for word. Summarises pretty well my thoughts on working in IT at the moment. As long as this is the standard out there, solo freelancing it is...
I wrote about why I quit my job, and how weird and tiring tech feels these days.
Wonderful talk 👏 I wish CEO's would listen to this instead of laying off people who voice this exact message. But I'm probably being too hopeful 🙃

I always loved this type of work! Some of my colleagues dreaded it, and enjoyed building exciting new features more. But I do think that you level up as a developer *precisely* because you do this kind of work. Which patterns scale, which don't. What is testable, what isn't.
are there people out there who just want to refactor every day? just wake up and find the worst code and just chip away at it and clean it up wake up the next day do it again, infinitely improving things with zero external impact?

I’ve witnessed more outages in the last 6 months than in my entire career before that combined. I wonder what changed 🫠
Been working on Quote Library so intensively these past months that I completely forgot I didn't even have a landing page for it 🤦♂️ Well not anymore! 🎉

I think I got a new hobby! Quite proud of how it turned out, considering it was a first attempt at repurposing the take-away sushi sticks 😆
Finally, some good news at last! Congrats to the Hungarian people for their unity against autocracy, showing us all that not giving up is the way. 🇭🇺🎉
Getting the urge to make 3D experiences/clips for musics I've been listening lately. I think it'd be a neat way to combine 2 things I have a passion for: music & coding
