Frankie's strategies to support people with DLD 1 set the stage. No fluff 2 sieve. repeat without changing the words. As information will need to be processed several times 3 rendering. allow time to convert words to images 4 door. Spoken language can vary greatly 5 road. Finding the right words

Specific oracy strategies that help students with DLD include: 1 Explicit teaching of vocabulary 2 Language Frameworks aka sentence starters. 3 inclusive lessons. Eg: using videos but with subtitles, slowed playback time and repeat video. #NAPLIC26

NAPLIC is 40 years old this year. Former Chair John Parrott is giving us a history lesson. We started life as NATLIC, an organisation for teachers, but soon became NAPLIC to welcome all professionals. David Crystal was instrumental in establishing the organisation #NAPLIC26

Recent study found 3 themes 1 people don't see my DLD: strategies include working harder to go unnoticed, not putting hand up, copying 2 I don't want my DLD to be seen: feel shame. 3 being seen versus being understood. Staff have heard of DLD but don't really understand it. #NAPLIC26
