Dr. Abdul El-Sayed: Mike Rogers is a guy who wants to put a data center in your backyard so he can feel a bit more manly by making an AI video. If you want a senator who's gonna lick some boots, go vote for Rogers. But if you want a senator who's going to stand up to Trump, you've got your option.

and yet, despite being horrible at having a conversation, they're addicting in the same way that gambling is addicting. they're designed to release that serotonin so that you use LLM chatbots more and more. they're designed to reaffirm your biases and make you feel good about you.

LLMs are part of the male loneliness epidemic, and this is very much a deliberate thing. i have never seen the need to use an LLM chatbot, because computers are just not good at holding a conversation or writing. they tend to stick to bland sentence structures like "not x, but y". they're so boring.

thinking about the hank green AI situation has got me really thinking about how one of the worse aspects of LLMs that people don't talk enough about compared to their other bad aspects is they're designed to be addictive. they're designed to make you dependent on them for even basic thinking skills
