Composer, keyboard player, retro game lover and Japanese learner. Sometimes streams on https://www.twitch.tv/respawnpoint My page is pretty much a catalogue of games I've played and movies/tv/anime I've watched. Maybe bits about Japanese learning too. 🏳️‍🌈 🇯🇲

Last couple of nights playing Eschatos have gotten super frustrating it's like I'm regressing in skill lol I'm literally right there I know I can do it but I'm not even getting to stage 4 anymore on 1 credit for some reason???

Thinking about how Tom Scott immediately improved Jenga by adding a chess clock to it. Timers are so effective and elegant for how simple they are, you could probably improve most games without timers by adding them

They still do, at least Nintendo of America does. If you watch a UK Nintendo Direct you'll see that they just say "game" instead of "the [game] game" like in the US. Which means that they make the narrator record two versions of the same line every time he mentions the name of a Nintendo game.

The $20 gamesir controller has probably been one of my best gaming related purchasing decisions in a good while. Insanely good for the price

I will actually offer a genuine counterpoint though. I recommend anyone who does readily look things up online when confronted with an obstacle to simply ask their friends instead. I think most games are enhanced by sharing information but between friends is more meaningful than google, imo

With cheesing discourse on my timeline, I am pro cheese lol. Basically anything that is not a puzzle game I do not consider cheesing to be detrimental to the experience... sometimes I wish I looked up stuff more even... One day I want to play a whole RPG while following a published strategy guide

I somehow triggered a big debate on the comments on a YouTube video. "Is X halal" seems to trigger comment wars every time lol I haven't participated since I'm not Muslim lol, I was just trying to explain the difference between vegetarian and vegan cheese

i'm thinking about tank controls again and how while it's not a system devoid of reflex elements, the committal nature of them makes success more contingent on your ability to predict the game state a few seconds into a future and games have increasingly biased away from this as time as gone on

Just saw a post about a "masochistic realism" roblox mod and it reminded me of this kinda mid adventure game I played last year lol, lemme find the vid and I'll repost it

I finished reading a regular book for the first time in a good while, and it's made me want to read another book immediately, which seems like a good thing to want ngl

Finally got another run on Eschatos where I made it to the final boss. Another score PB (though I'm not really playing for score lol) but with less lives as I threw away so many of them by doing stupid bullshit like this No music for some reason. Just imagine a banger playing in your head

The other day I may have joined a reggae band It felt really nice playing in a band again... also I should really learn reggae anyway it's a top tier style of music. They want me on bass though, so now I have to learn how to play bass properly outside of my sporadic noodling

It's actually insane how you can just build an intuition on how to work around the jank in the 3D sonic games tbh One of the main reasons I can't stand Sonic Heroes is because I was not raised on it, I'm fighting the jank for 100% of the game. Even Sonic 06 feels better cause I played it as a kid

y'know I think part of the reason Sonic fans around my age or a lil' younger can be such strong shooters for the janky 3D Sonic games of the 2000's is that the most frustrating, annoying, or broken parts of those games are consistently very possible to learn to overcome

The sheer number of “PlayStation Boycott” news articles I’ve seen since yesterday already outnumbers the coverage I’ve seen about BDS in 3 years. I don’t even know what to say.
