JUST IN: Justice Neil Gorsuch tells @RonaldReagan civility conference US democracy is 'very fragile' & 'facing some tough times.' 'We are all in it together, and if we don't stay all in it together, it will crumble,' Gorsuch says, urging students to study history 'warts and all'
“It was around the time the justices crossed the $10 million threshold in book earnings that I started to change my mind about the whole enterprise…” New @gaberoth.bsky.social op-ed in @scotusblog.com on the ethics implications of the justices’ lucrative book deals scotusblog.com/2026/07/just....

No Supreme Court Justice - or anyone working for them - should be betting on prediction markets.👇🏼
Can’t wait for a federal law clerk to bet on the outcome of an inevitable, late-arriving election law case & make a ton of money 🙃
Kalshi launches election hub for prediction markets ahead of midterms
The fact that the President is tweeting about the Federal Judicial Center's reference manual tells you less about the manual & more about the deep-pocketed interests with ties to the President trying to stop any & all litigation concerning the impacts of climate change.
My memory is getting murky, but I think if J-FOIA ever passes I'll get to take credit for getting it moving at first at least. I wish I had more time to work on it, but it seems to have legs of its own these days thanks to folks like @fixthecourt.com and @citizensforethics.org!
We continue to be advocates for bringing FOIA to the federal judiciary, and we're thrilled to support @schiff.senate.gov's push to make that happen. 1/2 www.schiff.senate.gov/news/press-r...
Apropos of the discussion Kagan & Barrett had earlier this week about security, here's our 2019 letter calling on Congress to give #SCOTUS the funding to enable 24/7 coverage for every justice: fixthecourt.com/wp-content/u.... Took until after the 2022 Dobbs leak for that to happen.

So we’re all just moving on from the Judge Ross scandal, it seems?
Our complaint transfer stats have just been updated (up to 27 now) & you guessed it, still no Judge Newman transfer sadly: fixthecourt.com/2026/07/comp....

At least 100, maybe 150 people in line for the House hearing with the justices & already 80 in line for Senate. Craziness! (We got 1 person in for House & learned some lessons in the interim so will have 2 staff in for Senate.)
Interest case & one that would likely yield a recusal should it get to SCOTUS, as Hachette is publishing Justice Kavanaugh’s book
Huge new class action lawsuit filed by big publishers and authors against Google this week over AI training. It accuses Google of taking millions of books / articles provided to them for use only in Google Books, Google Play Books, and Google Scholar, and secretly using them to train LLMs. 🧵 1/4
House committee has hearing on July 14 about how much money to give the Supreme Court in funding Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Elena Kagan will testify
Incredibly privileged to live in a country where criticizing the top court in the land is viewed not as subversive but as part of a centuries-long tradition of trying to perfect our civic institutions. Happy birthday, America! #America250 #July4th

BREAKING: Supreme Court rules for Trump on border turnback policy, holding that a migrant stopped on the Mexican side of the border does not arrive in the US under INA provisions governing asylum
Another day, another uninformed opinion about the impact of broadcast on apex/appeals courts. In fact, cameras have not had any discernible negative impact on courts of appeals in the U.S. or abroad. In the few instances an attorney has tried to grandstand, they've been quickly put in their place.
Joe is right. To take it a step further, how is it not a scandal that John Roberts won’t even let you — the public who pays him — *listen* to the release of opinions? The court is sitting. The public can go and watch! How are opinion announcements not livestreamed?

The judiciary's letter opposing the Sunshine bill is bunk. "The legislation would result in significant costs..." How much do they think it costs to roll a camera into a courtroom? (Hint: it's $0.) And if a TV stn offered to pay to install cameras, they'd oppose? 🙃 fixthecourt.com/2026/06/fix-...
