New intro. I’m a software engineer based in the Asia Pacific. I worked on real-time embedded systems in C and assembly for the 1st decade of my career before pivoting to consumer, commercial, investment banking, and trading in Europe & APAC. Mostly C#, .NET, MAUI Blazor Hybrid, Azure, C++ & Python.

It's time for devs to take a look at modern #Excel! It now has all the core #FunctionalProgramming constructs: LAMBDA, LET, MAP, REDUCE, SCAN, … as well as GROUPBY, PIVOTBY, … Both #PowerQuery and Formulas have lazy evaluation. It's a fantastic, reactive, functional programming environment! 🚀

I spent the day taking some casual first steps into using Langchain, LlamaCpp, and a couple of models from huggingface. Was a pretty neat first step. Although I'm at a loss what sort of side project to do. Any ideas?

Having decades of experience in software dev isn't what it's made out to be. Time passes, most of our skills fade into irrelevance. What we are left with is an ever-stronger grasp of fundamentals, a lifetime of relearning, and lots of valuable (and sometimes painful) lessons.
The two most productive teams I ever worked in were: a) programming in assembler with no source control (90s) b) Doing CI with Visual Source Safe and batch files running CI (00s) It was the leadership and discipline of the team that made all the difference. Not the technology.
At some point I will tweet about side projects. It'll be Arduino builds, Blazor WebAssembly, and whatever I'm tinkering with atm. I have a broad interest in tech and lots of opinions on development. I don't really look like a Christmas gnome.
