Dozens of gas-burning power plants are being built across the country, solely to power data centers. These plants could emit as much planet-warming pollution as half of all passenger vehicles in the entire country in a single YEAR. We need a data center moratorium — now.

What a repulsive man. I had eye problems. Everything from routine cataract surgery and laser work for retinopathy in both eyes, to a vitrectomy. Some of the surgeons and nurses didn't have flawless English. But as they were busy saving my eyesight, it would have seemed churlish to whine about it...

The BBC hate us so much that they only had me on Question Time 38 times and have had Zia Yusuf on 8 times in less than two years, despite the fact that nobody even voted for him. Now that's what I call bias.

This is pure extraction of wealth from one group of people to another We urgently need: Windfall tax on oil giants Windfall tax on banks Both are creaming money off us during a cost of living crisis Even Thatcher had the balls to tax the banks Will you @andyburnham?

My column on how capital becomes a death cult. Faced with a choice between profit and human life, the radical right chooses profit. Then it tries to persuade us that mass death is what we want. It's the new phase of climate denial: accept your fate, earthlings. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Murderous heat, an endangered food supply, decimated landscapes: embrace the Mediterranean life | George Monbiot

As climate disaster stares us in the face, the radical right says ‘Embrace the Mediterranean life’. Embrace death, more like it, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

I fear we might see a new alignment between a radical right death cult and a rural revivalist "simplicity" drive, which views collapse and a return to "organic" communities as a solution to decadent urbanism. A century ago this convergence led to a very bad place. www.monbiot.com/2023/10/04/t...

The “cowardly French” and the “incompetent Irish”, at its heart Brexit was the last gasp of imperial British exceptionalism. In their minds Britain was being held back by its small minded, feckless, cowardly partners and would thrive once it was unshackled from the EU and “forged its own path”.

Pity the French did not show the same resolve in defending their sovereignty in June 1940.

Congratulations Ireland, you're no longer Europe's most ridiculous country
Mass amnesties and tolerance of illegal migrants has been disastrous for Spain & Ireland
Only Reform will stop the rot in UK

"Hands up if you're a prancing prick who's been spouting complete bollocks about using the Royal Navy to send migrants back to France in a desperate bid to distract attention from the sleaze your party is mired in"

I see this and I think about all the long years of relentless filthy abuse these swine have thrown at good and well-meaning people, to make the country more comfortable and more compliant for thoroughly unpleasant and actively malicious people like themselves.

Republican Senators are voting to confirm Trump’s lawyer to be AG when it just came out that Capital One shut down Trump’s accounts under suspicion of money laundering and Trump wants exemption from being investigated for tax fraud. THESE PEOPLE ARE CRIMINALS.

Between 2010 and 2024, only 500 more prison places were made available and 23 prisons were shut down. How dare the Tories and their media start with their bullshit faux outrage?!
