founder of nopopo, game designer, he/him, everything is political

since i make games, ppl i meet irl think i work in tech (not unfair i guess, but not how i feel either), and so the way they try and connect w me is to talk about AI. which, i hate. so lately i just started responding by talking about AI advancement in smart toilets

i’ll be honest as a game designer i’ve always found it REALLY difficult watching ppl play my games. i mostly avoided youtube LPs and twitch streams. but the way ppl get into Castle V Castle has me hooked 😅

fuck me i blanked on a word so googled it, the AI generated response: - got the name wrong - got the goal of the game wrong - claims that both “27” and “37” are 27 what’s the point of this at all man i’m so tired

castle v castle trivia: the game was called castle VS castle for the longest time, then i started designing the logo and hated how the S broke up the flow

It's been a while since I've done this, and the world is bleak - so we can all use a little art & creativity. What is everyone creating nowadays? Games, art, music, video, writing, anything - whether it is early, almost done, or just shipped. Feel free to include trailers, images, links - whatever.

added a “v hard mode” to Castle V Castle just bc anyone who knows me knows i haven’t written the word “very” out in full in years. bonus shot: multiplayer scoreboard!

the way indie games are a spectrum is so wild. i’ll scroll through here and see a post that’s like “we got 500 wishlists! huge! validation for the decades of work we put in! ❤️” and the next post is like “98K wishlists on my first game, can we get to 100k chat or are we cooked 😭”

little known fact about my game: the title "Castle v Castle" actually comes from the gameplay of the game that sees a castle fighting another castle

found an article that mentioned Castle V Castle as one of the best steamdeck games in next fest and i was like… it runs on steamdeck?? been too busy to check 😅 nice way to find out tho

pointless fun thing I've added to Castle V Castle: a signpost that strolls up when your castle is near destruction with a "the end is nigh" sign. if your castles loses while the signpost is there, it turns around and reads “told u so”

Might feel like everything is going to 💩 but there's still lots of good in the world. Here's a little joy for ya — grab a ticket or apply to speak this year!
