Reading SEC filings intensively and obsessively for 20+ years. Home of the Friday Night 💩. Learn more at footnoted.com. Brooklyn-born and raised, but now an Angeleno with a soupçon of Paris.
A recent story by @ericlipton.nytimes.com and David Yaffe- Bellany found that investors in $TRUMP has lost $3.8 billion while the President made $636 million. In normal times, the SEC would be all over this. But these aren't normal times!
Senators Richard Blumenthal and @warren.senate.gov sent SEC Chair Paul Atkins a letter on Monday asking for an investigation of the Trump #memecoin. There's not a snowball's chance in hell that Atkins takes this on! www.banking.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

Just my luck! My son getting into LAX after a month in France right around the time that Trump is set to arrive in LA. Wondering if I should start driving to that side of town now because traffic will be pure hell later!
Just came from a talk with @juliaangwin.com and @fieldsmeyer.com at UCLA’s Hammer Museum. Lively discussion that was worth fighting west side traffic for. Looking forward to reading their book.
$NFLX co-CEO Ted Sarandos disclosed in the company's recent 10-Q that he might sell up to 10% of his holdings. Read full details here: www.footnoted.com/a-big-potent...

Netflix reported second quarter earnings last Thursday, which were widely viewed as disappointing, sending its stock down to a two-year low. On Friday, after the markets closed, the company filed its ...

@benmckenzie.bsky.social just told @warren.senate.gov that the #crypto industry doesn't "give a rats ass" about people who buy crypto. All it cares about is making money.
Billions of dollars in losses and there's been nothing from the SEC -- not even a warning on #crypto", said former SEC enforcer John Reed Stark. Some important info in this hearing, but looks like only two Senators bothered to show up.
Blumenthal: So #crypto is sort of in an "enforcement neverworld" with protections stripped by the agency charged with enforcing the rules. Former SEC enforcement officer John Reed Stark calls SEC Chair Paul Atkins a "carnival barker" for crypto.
Have Senator Blumenthal's hearing on about the Clarity Act. A former teacher currently testifying that she was scammed for $600K via LinkedIn. Lots of Trump talk too. Are you listening too, @zacheverson.com? www.facebook.com/SenBlumentha...

Last night, I paid over $10 for an single ice cream cone at Jeni's and can't stop thinking about what the profit-margin is on that. Yeah..I know that rent and wages are high in LA. But how does Paris, an equally expensive city, manage to pull this off for under €5??
They always say there were no disagreements! But if there were really zero differences, wouldn’t he still have a job?
Resigned on Monday 20 July but only announced after hours on a summer Friday (Jul 24) 🤔 "His exit comes after Katherine Rubenstein, the chief operating officer of the BCRED fund left last month." cc the SEC filing expert @footnoted.bsky.social
Listening to one of what feels like an endless stream of college consulting firm webinars and their advice is to take as many APs as possible -- as many as 4 or 5 a semester, which seems like a road to early burnout!
I keep reading that writing with em dashes is a sure sign that someone used AI. But I've been using them forever, both in my personal writing and professionally. Am I really supposed to change my style and stop using them to avoid being accused of writing with AI? What are others doing? #booksky
I've been getting what feels like hourly updates from Driscoll reminding me that their berries are safe to eat! It's definitely been more than once a day!
I'd like to think that I have a pretty extensive vocabulary, being a journalist. But I had never heard of today's #Wordle answer before!
Unbelievable! The number of comments on the SEC's proposal to eliminate the 10-Q has nearly doubled -- AGAIN! Earlier today, there were around 68,000 comments listed. Now, the number is up to 123,500 not including form letters. www.sec.gov/rules-regula...

Quelle déception! My son, who is currently in France, says the fireworks for Bastille Day were cancelled and then this!
Can I read SEC filings and watch the soccer game at the same time? We're about to find out!
Nine big pharma companies team up to say they support semi-annual reporting and would likely adopt it. They urge the SEC to adopt this ASAP. www.sec.gov/comments/S7-...

Saw my first Chery EV out in the wild. Looked great, but probably never available in the US.
Many more letters on the SEC’s earnings proposal are likely. I submitted my letter on Monday June 30 and it just became public this evening. www.sec.gov/comments/S7-...

The SEC has received nearly 17,500 letters from individuals, companies and associations on its proposal to let companies stop filing quarterly. One of those letters from from quant fund Two Sigma which has “grave concerns” over the proposal. www.sec.gov/comments/S7-...

The SEC just did a MASSIVE dump of comment letters over its dumb proposal to eliminate quarterly reports. This morning, there were about 2,300 letters. After markets closed, it climbed to over 8,100 letters -- a more than three-fold increase! 😗
Spotted at my local Ralph’s this morning! Would think Chris Ruddy wouldn’t drive a woke car like a Subaru!
From my inbox this morning: what can only be described as a marketing message on all the ways Social Security is blossoming under DJT. 🤢
Taught my son how to cook when he was very young. Was using a Cuisinart by the time he was 4. Now that he’s 16, he’s making amazing stuff like this Beef Wellington last night. #cooksky
