snes, ps1, gamecube, dreamcast, ps2 are all defunct consoles. they no longer require any kind of licensing to make games for them Id love to see a blossoming of GOOD unity/godot tools and exporters for those consoles, so that homebrew can evolve beyond random curiosities into more full games

On the topic of vibecoding in retro gaming, it should also be made aware that the lack of information about making custom games for old systems has lead to people vibe-coding games. If you don't want people to vibe-code, then we NEED to have more ACCESSIBLE information ABOUT coding in general!

Nintendo and SEGA need to bring back their retro consoles like the NES and Genesis (NOT emulators, recreations of the original hardware) and lean into the homebrew community by offering easy tools to develop games for them on modern PCs. Also reprint some of their older game cartridges!
