Artist, Game & Sound Designer. Co-creator of Jazzpunk

poking back on twitter to see how far the two timelines have diverged it strikes me that 90% of the content on twitter is just stolen, pilfered. nothing is ever accredited to the artist or creator all the tweets are like: "this developer is working on a new ps1 game" but wont say who it is stolen

One of my goals with Jazzpunk was to create the game's soundtrack using mostly synthesizers and effects that would've existed "at the time" ie: 1960s. I had built two EMS "VCS3" synthesizers, so I used these in conjunction with many different spring reverbs and tape echos machines, some were DIY

my DIY Synthi A another DIY synthia I built, along with a DIY sequencer and patch matrixa VCS3 inside of jazzpunk's hotel room

this is the only sane post about forest fires Ive seen in weeks We cant dredge the entire planet and burn it continuously for centuries, eventually that will come back at us, ffs we're releasing millions of years of trapped solar energy in the span of less than 70 years. whole epochs of energy

I say this with nothing but love in my heart for the fatherland but can you imagine any other country looking at wildfires and thinking "quick, get a philosopher on the line"

Im sure this will be controversial or some people will clamber out of the woodwork to howl about this but just looking at the lineage, I think one of sega's weakest pillars was its industrial design, which is especially true for its controllers I want their competitor's controllers every time

honestly Ive been like this since I was a child, using a game genie. I have no interest in a game's difficulty, I want to see the art, the music, the story. I dont find dying and replaying the same area over and over to be a fun loop, Im not wired that way

One thing that definitely changes as you get older is your opinion about mods and cheats for games. If I have to cheat to pass a level that would take me 26 tries without help? I am cheating. Without remorse. With glee, in fact.

Watched Toys (1992) last night easily some of the BEST production design of that era, rivaling the work of Tim Burton during his Good Years I can see why it failed. its two biggest weaknesses are... the WORST soundtrack Ive ever heard (not hyperbole), and a misuse of Robin Williams talents

this building, along with robarts, science center, and CN tower, created what would be my life long love affair with concrete modernist architecture Toronto has so many great examples of this style, scattered over a couple of decades (60s-70s mostly)

The Medical Sciences building itself is a piece of bulky brutalism from the late 1960s with Ted Bieler and Robert Downing contributing to the exterior design.

A large building of multiple adjoining cuboids in concrete with a decoration of many vertical concrete bars of varying length. The building is by the snappily titled Govan Kaminker Langley Keenleyside Melick Devonshire & Wilson with Somerville McMurrich & Oxley

my one big takeaway from this years pile of Showcases is that Unreal Engine 5 has co-opted or sort of, I dare say, polluted the visual language of games, where nothing stands out theres a kind of mediocrity that comes with being "photorealistic I guess". PBR substance everywhere, but not distinct

todays thrift store find: a copy of "D" for MS-DOS, two disc cd-rom. Produced by Studio WARP in 1995, directed by the late Kenji Eno didn't know this had a US PC release, honestly. I saw D on the jewel case spine and was like "no way this is actually D" and it was! this game is all FMVs

"friendslop" games (not my terminology) seem to have replaced malls, as places that teens hangout whats interesting is that many of these games are often non violent, not a typical COD server. meaning they're just spaces give kids *spaces* so that can hang out away from their helicopter parents
