a reminder that the much-hyped new e-scooter regulations have not yet taken effect. it's almost as if existing laws were sufficient and the Gardaí could have simply been enforcing them all along

At least this level of crime only happens on bank holiday weekends and not the rest of the time eh, because if it didn't, it would look a lot like a wreckless lack of resources and enforcement problem for public safety.

Minister Jack Chambers has indicated there's unlikely to be another extension, with higher rates due to return from 1 September. If current trends continue, diesel could approach €2 a litre. Yesterday, the CSO announced that a record number of households are in arrears over electricity bills. Today, we learn the CEO of state owned ESB has a pay rise to €410k. Such blatant unfairness is a result of EU deregulation of the energy sector in the 90s.

Seeing that evenTexas governor Greg Abbot is now obldging Texas utilities to do impact assessments on new data centres while in Ireland we can't even seem to get the most basic info on those already deployed nevermind have a serious public debate on the wrecklessness of government policy on them.
This should have happened after the crash.

Power has slowly returned to about 70% of the grid in Cuba after a day and a half. The east is still out. But don't worry, the regime has everything in handl and has announced they are upgrading the population to biometric ID cards.
I mean there was a time when being associated with such a Tory catchphrase as 'not for turning' would have been seen as a bad look in the party. They should just end the embarrassing pretence of being a distinct party and merge with FG.

When are FF supporters going to cop on and realise this hard man guff gets them nowhere.

Max Dubler 🏳️🌈@maxdubler.com · 4d agoI think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
