This winter has been a real one to date for the ice cover of the Great Lakes that has reached about 40% today. The champion is Lake Erie (95%) while Lake Ontario is at about 20%. Ice plays critical roles (ecology, erosion, weather etc..) for this region. Data: www.glerl.noaa.gov/data/ice/#ov...
