I'm not a lawyer, so this is pretty baffling. States have the power to regulate gambling or ban it outright, so why not "prediction markets"? Alternately, if I rebrand some roulette tables as "prediction markets" can I now open a casino -- sorry, a trading forum -- anywhere?

Liz Oyer says she's received deaths threats since testifying against Todd Blanche's nomination for Attorney General — and that Missouri's Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt have helped fuel the violent threats against her.

Opinion | Former DOJ lawyer spotlights death threats after Blanche testimony

Liz Oyer says Missouri’s Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt are helping fueling threats against her as Republicans try to confirm Blanche as AG.

Trump desperately did not want to be blamed for covid and initially chose the "ignore and it will go away" option, and those of us outside the cult remember how well that worked out. Also trump was anti-mask because masks would smear his orange makeup, I will die on this hill.

We actually had the 16th highest mortality rate in the world and it largely resulted from the ignorant asshats who were *resisting* the common sense protection measures Fauci was promoting like masking and distancing. What a colossal asshole.

Trump traded GEO Group and CoreCivic stocks, two private prison corporations, nearly 30 times in 2025. GEO Group’s profits increased by 700% that year and CoreCivic raked in $650 million in ICE contracts — both benefiting Trump’s stock portfolio. Cashing in on his own cruelty.

Hey I know inflation is out of control and a lot of folks can’t afford basic necessities, but at least we’re tackling waste fraud and abuse by buying… *checks notes* 250 Escalades for the government.

tRump gets called a pedophile protector at a GM plant and his big move is to scream “he’s a communist!” The man is dusting off the old red scare every time the Epstein heat gets too close. He's a one trick pony spewing a 1950s script. www.themirror.com/news/us-news...

Trump's response after interruption by protestor yelling 'pedophile protector'

President Donald Trump fired back at a heckler who accused him of being a "pedophile protector" while giving a speech at a General Motors facility in Milford, Michigan on Monday

Amen. If you go into the archives looking to confirm a hunch, you'll likely find some random bit of evidence that fits. This is why "originalism" is considered a joke by actual historians. Finding one quote from one member of the founding generation who agrees with your hot take is pretty easy!

In my historical methods training, I was always taught “we start with a historical question.” I would never use “I’m testing a hypothesis” in my work. I might have a working theory or a working hypothesis, but I’m certainly never *testing* it. That’s ripe for cherry-picked, law office history.

At least 52 people have died in ICE custody since Trump returned to the White House. At least 23 people have been shot at by federal immigration agents. And thousands more have been caged, separated from their families, or shipped off to dangerous countries. The cruelty is endless.

Wolfers: For nine out of the last 10 presidencies, if you’d said, “How much should we blame the president for what’s going on with the economy right now?” I would have said that the president is just one factor among many. That’s what I would have said nine out of 10 times. This is the 10th time.

BREAKING: In my lawsuit against Todd Blanche for the Epstein Files, Judge Sullivan has just ordered Blanche to produce, in camera (in chambers), the UNREDACTED emails & documents, and Blanche must bring documentation supporting his representations the DOJ’s redactions are what he claims they are.

Thanks to Andrew for the periodic reminder. Nice photo, but I think these are the heaters to provide UF6 to an enrichment facility. The storage container is the cylinder that can just be seen inside the first open heater. But Andrew's point still stands. Nobody is going to backpack these out.

To be clear about the actual, physical uranium that would need to be removed from Iran - it's not in tidy, safeish ingots. It's held as a super dangerous gas, probably stored in vessels like these, located way underground. Nobody is just taking it.

RFK Jr. said the outbreak was “under control.” Now the FDA is investigating six Cyclospora outbreaks. More than 12,000 Americans have already been hit with explosive diarrhea. So what exactly does “under control” mean to the CDC these days?

Donald Trump still has absolutely no idea what he was trying to do, how he was going to do it, why he wasn't able to do it, or what he's going to do next to try to fix what he has no idea he broke. He's a delusional, crackbrained, and deranged moron. It's just that simple.

Breaking News: President Trump has set aside, at least for now, plans to sharply escalate the American military assault against Iran.
