Updates on the flag(s) flying in my front yard here in Michigan!

Flying the Pansexual Pride flag and the flag of Baden-Württemberg today! December 8 is Pansexual Pride Day! And we’re flying Baden-Württemberg for the referendum on this day in 1951 that led to the creation of this German state!

Flying the Pan-African and South Carolina flags today! Today is the beginning of Black History Month here in the US, and we’re honoring the Friendship Nine, a group of young African American activists who stood up to segregation and racism in the 1960s!

Flying England and Nottinghamshire today! Nottingham has played an important role in English history. Notably, at age 17 King Edward III, whose reign began on this day in 1327, staged a coup at Nottingham Castle against Roger Mortimer, who had been the de-facto ruler of England as Edward’s regent.

Flying Brazil today! On this day in 1835 the Malê Slave Revolt began in the Bahai region of the Brazilian Empire with over 600 slaves and free Afro-Brazilians, inspired by Muslim teachings, rising up against their masters and oppressors!

Flying the United Nations and Paris today! Hell bent on making things worse in a million ways, President Trump decided to withdraw the United States from the United Nation’s World Health Organization and from the Paris Climate Agreement, signed in 2016 at the UN Climate Change Conference

Flying the Resistance flag and the Trans Pride flag today because fuck Donald Trump, he’s an authoritarian, rapist, transphobe who has stoked fear of immigrants, seeks to further enrich the already super wealthy, and has enabled racists around the world. He sucks! 🥰

Flying Minneapolis today for Bde Maka Ska! On this day in 2018 the Minnesota DNR officially changed the name of Lake Calhoun (named after an asshole slave holder) to Bde Maka Ska, the original Dakota name of the lake! 🥰

Just FYI, administrative warrants (like the ones used by ICE) are not judicial warrants (used by cops, signed by a judge). You do NOT legally have to open the door for an ICE officer with an administrative warrant *no matter what the ICE officer says.*
