what i get from that one adorno essay about hating hobbies is that hyperfixation + critical theory = based, while “just let people enjoy things” = fascism

someone should send Ezequiel Di Paolo “Society” by Adorno
Undertaking the annoying task of getting more philosophically literate
like in my heart of hearts i wanna do philosophy or history. but those are already not exactly ideal for someone who wants to get jobs. which is why my plan was to do one or the other and also learn to be a paralegal, but now AI is eating up paralegal work sooo…
now that I’m out of community college, I’m really at a crossroads in terms of a proper 4 year university. specifically on what path to take. i want something humanities, something which will actually be useful for my activism… while also potentially allowing me to put food on the table

Police murdered a Black man in the street in Madison WI today. Shot point blank in the head while on the ground, tased, and surrounded by four cops. It looks like an execution. Multiple videos circulating online. Things are about to get very bad here.
Ilyenkov basically doing ecological psychology but historical materialist is both funny and really useful for thinking about certain things. It helps inform my understanding of organizing, of literature, of reproduction, and so on
Political power can only reproduce itself via infrastructure (which must also be reproduced). Even spontaneous activities rely on infrastructure passed down by history. Without the capacity to consistently reproduce itself, no political power can be exercised except in short bursts.
it’s actually very obvious who i am on twitter if you know the sorts of things i talk about, i dunno why i try to keep my identity separate
the isomorphism between vygotsky and the mass line (when the latter is not poorly understood) in terms of concept mediation is pretty fascinating
this is actually making it quite clear to me why autopoietic enactive cognition is pretty relevant on the level of philosophical anthropology
doing something I will regret (bothering to read some Max Stirner)
stirnerist feminism is a thing but most of them don’t realize they’re doing it

Frontiers | Can science fiction engagement predict identification with all humanity? Testing a moderated mediation model
Identification with all humanity (IWAH) is viewed as a critical construct that facilitates global solidarity. However, its origins have rarely been explored ...

I think that whether humans are purposive, normative, and immanently teleological in the ways, say, Hegel or autopoietic enactive cognition propose, is directly relevant to the question as to whether one can say “class interests” are even an intelligible category
My brand of naturalism is that the more you learn about nature, the more woke you become.
I don’t think Rockhill’s critique of the Frankfurt School is useful even if we grant every single historical point. If you want a useful critique of the Frankfurt School for a US audience, it must be relevant to US conditions. For instance, they failed to theorize settler-colonialism.
Someone call me when biologists stop trying to smuggle mediations into false immediacies. I thought we already figured this out when we stopped doing race science (haha I jest; we still do IQ testing)
In a new #Viewpoint we argue that the binary definition of #BiologicalSex based on gamete size is a scientifically robust framework that is entirely compatible with the diversity of sexual phenotypes and human gender identities. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
The more I read into enactivism, the more I conclude that Althusser was relying on a certain concept of science that can no longer be considered scientific, properly speaking. Especially when emerging work seems to imply normativity and intrinsic teleology are real scientific concepts.
Social metabolism as a concept is probably pretty relevant to the national question actually, especially if + enactivism, no?
Every nonfiction book is called like Republic of Cheese: How Gouda Saved Democracy and Created the Modern World
It reminds me a lot of Lenin’s citation of Pisarev in What Is To Be Done, which is imo one of the most underexplored elements in any discussion of Lenin. I find that the most useful takeaway from Lenin is a battle against myopia. He was against naive immediacy both geographically and temporally.
Very interesting paper from Anna Stetsenko on her view of Marxism. One that I find myself sympathetic to. She engages a lot with Vygotsky, but has also read some enactive literature iirc www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Sometimes it drives me a little up the wall that I seem to be one of the few people in my milieu to think that communism, in its full economic, political, ecological, and cultural implications, is actually in fact possible to achieve?
reading enactive cognition takes on literature and thinking “why didn’t the marxists come up with any of this a century ago instead of spending all that time arguing about what genre is the most Proletarian lol”
I wonder what everyone’s favorite work of Marxology is
I’ve generally been somewhat suspicious of psychoanalysis but I really do need to give it a fair shake one of these days
