Big Walk is a fantastic video game. It's SO interesting to see the kind of communication + execution 'puzzles' you see out of something like WoW or Destiny Raids, but in a less nuts setting. I find it astonishing that more games haven't seized on this incredibly simple and fun concept.

It'd be so much effort to get off the ground, but it'd be kinda interesting to see a virtual arcade you can walk around and interact with people in, where the games are exclusive to the specific game which is providing the virtual arcade experience. Heavily discounted credits, like 5c or something.

that's the difference between you and i. you want to take players to the 'fun zone'. you want to give them 'player expression'. I WANT PLAYERS TO BURN IN HELL

I don't hate ID1, but you'd have to have a really nice jam concept to make me skip my Copper biosuit lava-runs. That may be my singular favourite mapping quirk introduced in a mod. Like, you can do slime runs, but it's not the same feeling as chaining biosuits to extend your playtime in the lava.

I can completely understand how games like Campaign Evolved come to be. You watch someone playing the game, and if they don't immediately understand something it feels REALLY BAD to watch that happen. Designers need to hold back on acting on that impulse though, otherwise you ruin the illusion.

I thought it was bad enough that Youtube starts recommending you chud morons when you watch a few Halo videos, innocent shit like retrospectives or beta footage, but then I looked at the Halo subreddit and holy fuck. Actual manchildren.

"graphics don't matter art direction does" bugs me re:AAA games because graphically, they look like shit!!!! they turn into a boiling mess if you dare to move or look around! they're too sharp and too blurry at the same time! so hard to parse they have to add markers everywhere! the graphics suck!!!

Coppertone Summer Jam 3 would rule rn but I don't have the energy to run a jam rn :( I still think my favourite jam of all time is CTSJ2, from an organising perspective (making the promo stuff was fun, including customising each beach chair level entrance) plus all the great submissions.

Is working with 3D models / animations this bad in other engines or is this a Godot Thing? It's such a fucking struggle to make even the simplest shit work.

Btw if you enjoy games like Slay The Spire or Balatro, please don't let The Bazaar go under your radar. It's all killer no filler. No metaprogression BS, it's all there to begin with and has incredible depth. The best 'synergy builder' I've played by far.

the first time you see a hunter in the new halo CE remake, chief, the character which famously doesn't fucking talk, opens his stupid fucking mouth to say "hmm... hunters.... they're weak on their exposed areas... fire at will...." AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

i still laugh whenever i see ppl actually using the name Rover for the Monolith/QBJ3 protagonist. its the dumbest joke and i can't believe ppl rolled with it

with my anxiety i could never splice a speedrun bro. 8 years down the line someone will realize that an NPC's breathing cycle is 0.53s delayed from how it should be given the boss' attack pattern 4 levels ago and your whole reputation is immediately smoked

It's interesting to see in practice what my primordial "ADHD accessibility tweet" was getting at. Where people will defend things like accessibility sliders but get defensive over freeform instant access to content that bypasses progression
