Sometimes I forget that the PSVR2 even existed.
Not the same thing. It Takes Two isn’t friendslop, nor is Army of Two. It’s a term people use to describe games with a more slapdash vibe, where the effort has gone into mechanics rather than production values. Jank by design.
It’s fascinating playing Killzone in 2026. This was Sony’s answer to Halo, and it’s so very not like Halo, at all. Gritty, brown, depressing. Firing from trenches at distant enemies rather than circle-strafing. The art direction really holds up, though - the world feels consistent and considered.
The Three Little Pigs is about house insurance fraud. That wolf was hired, I tell you.
Man, emulation on the Steam Deck is the *best*. I didn’t expect this to be such a big deal for me, but I can play several of my favourite games of all time at 60fps in HD on the same device I use to play everything else. That’s huge.
Mila saw your tweets. She’ll never be the same.
Charli XCX's new album is a banger. It has the vibe of a demo you'd make in a bedroom, it's so stripped back and not overproduced to death. Very different vibe than Brat, but fun in its own way. "Camera" is a particular standout. youtu.be/eO3zsYsDnbI?...

The Lossless Scaling plugin for Steam Deck is actual black magic. Graphically demanding games or older titles with locked framerates all running at 60fps on a handheld, with better battery life too. What an incredible thing.
They absolutely nailed Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Great film.
Harrison Ford, the actor behind loveable scoundrels Han Solo and Indiana Jones, started his career as an on-set carpenter. That makes him a roguelike deckbuilder.
If you're making a cosmic horror game, rule one should be don't include tentacles. Rule two should be don't use 1920s America aesthetics. Rule three should be don't feature fish monsters. Or multi-eyed masses of black goop.
It feels tacky because a) she has certainly made a ton of money because of this movie and b) this should be an opportunity for her to reach out to people intrigued by the movie and bring them into the classics. She can point out the differences without trying to burn it all down.
Emily Wilson coming for Nolan's THE ODYSSEY with knives out feels not just tacky but kind of small-minded in the way we make fun of comic book fans for being small-minded when a movie adaptation changes stuff from comics.
Finally saw Project Hail Mary. What a thoroughly excellent film. On paper, absolutely none of that should work, and yet it really, really does.
"But videogames have been using AI for decades!"
I come back to this tumblr post again and again
I find it interesting that the moment Halo stopped hitting for people was the moment it stopped being just a box of military propaganda toys and started exploring character depth and such things. You'd think the reverse would be true.
Reading The Three Impostors by Arthur Machen and it’s so funny in a contemporary age to read the account of a 19th century Englishman travelling to a relatively young America and being like “This place is barren and awful; why would anybody want to live here?”
given what we know about birds, you know dinosaurs fucken loved to dance
Once the fascism-esque era of Trumpism ends, will doomscrolling also end as a concept? Once the networks are no longer actively working to overwhelm us with bad news to make us apathetic, does such a thing still exist? Are these things inextricably connected?
This guy’s videos are really good and well-produced. He deserves more views. youtu.be/pqF8IBPW3Iw?...

Another thought on this: if we’re heading towards something of a universe reset, as reports indicate, what if the reason it includes all these boring characters is that this film is going to be an absolute bloodbath in which most of them are killed off?
A little too many characters I don’t care about and not enough of the ones I do, but hey, sure, I’ll go see this. Hype music. RDJ’s Doom seems solid based on this little snippet, too. youtu.be/irVNGjRFZGk?...
