My four year old threatened to "banish" me today, which is equal parts impressive, amusing, and concerning

If it wasn't bad luck, this Government would have no luck. A half a billion euro tax cut on fuel not even the leading news item this morning, thanks to Rory McIlroy.
Petrol and diesel are, per litre, more affordable today than they were in the 90s and early 00s, when wages and welfare rates are factored in. The difference is that we, as a country, are driving more KMs and longer hours. Frustrating to see more short term thinking that will exarcebate the problem.
If you think the protestors in tractors are disruptive, wait until the roads are frozen over because the AMOC collapsed #spéirgorm
New study finds the "canary in the coal mine" for the #AMOC: a consistent decline of the western overturning circulation, down from 20 to 15 Sv during 2004-2023 at 26° N. 🌊 AMOC "could be at or near a critical tipping point, potentially leading to its collapse". www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

I'm not saying that LLMs or GenAI dont or wont have use cases, but if it were as genuinely transformative and productivity enhancing as advocates claim, it wouldn't need to spend so much money on Facebook ads trying to get people to change their photos into cartoons.
The #Mercosur agreement was largely finalised six years ago, and the European Commission waited six years to bring it to voting stage. They would'nt have done unless they had all the pieces in place for the vote to pass. The deal is done, and everything between now and then is political positioning.
The Tánaiste says approval of the Mercosur trade deal cannot be "taken for granted”, as farmers continue protesting across Europe and Irish farmers prepare for a major demonstration in Athlone tomorrow. #VMNews
By pushing an anti-green, anti-sustainability agenda, farming unions in Ireland and the EU have helped to create the political conditions for #Mercosur to pass. My letter in today's Irish Times.
