Today I learned of a 2016 rerelease of XTC’s Skylarking w all 15 songs in Rundgren’s order. And a 2024 Atmos version. Since I bought a CD player (1995 one died), I need this. But which one? Still have my vinyl English Settlement, 1 of 25 that I kept in the TX-MD move. @iconoplasty.bsky.social
Several coworkers are dealing with various health and personal issues, as well as a chaotic workplace. I've had some fogginess, but a nervous system trying to repair takes a bit of energy. I've had to pull back from the news, esp politics. So much of it seems a rinse & repeat nature.
Friendly, smiling strangers enter a small town? No high plains drifters here! But they could possibly change at least one person's life. A part of me wanted the town to look something like the one in the Star Trek episode "Spectre of the Gun." #webcomic #comic #art #fantasy

When I visualized this character, I went straight to Jackie Joyner-Kersee. In the 80s, I enjoyed the summer Olympics & Jackie was no small reason. A strong, confident woman. Grace did her own character design, which I love. But I like to think there's a little Jackie there. #oc #comic #art

As feeling slowly returns to my left fingers, I'm preparing to resume guitar. For now, it's self-learning. I've overall goals, specifics to learn, the approach, & practice habits. My playing space setup. I need to set up intermediate goals--1-3 months. I'll look for a local tutor at some point.

I'm off to look for a pilsner to use in my pizza dough for a grandma pizza. Maybe I'll try a semi-local Troegs Sunshine unless Weihenstephan Pilsner is in stock. I'll warm the beer to add the yeast but can't get it too hot.

Sold it this morning to a mom in DC buying it for her 16-yr-old son. I love the symmetry of that: The amp going to another teen guitarist. ;) Meanwhile the surgery is proving beneficial as feeling has returned to my ring & (to some extent) middle fingers. Just the index & thumb are numb still.

But I don't need an amp this big tho it has a 0.5w setting. The Swart Atomic Jr is all I need. Local pickup (DMV area) Next week up on Reverb #guitar #amp

The recent posts about hot dogs heightened my need for a good hot dog. So, today, I explore Frederick, MD for a good chili dog. And I'm picky about my chili. No beans. Nothing overwrought. I've lost 15+ lbs since the surgery, which I needed. I need to keep this weight but my appetite is nearly 0.

Speaking of the Odyssey, I've started Emily Wilson's translation. I read Lattimore's in the 80s. I was very tempted by Mendelsohn's from '25. I appreciate her POV, esp as a woman. I enjoyed Heaney's Beowulf & Sioned Davies's Mabinogion. They bring that lit to life, which is subjective I know.
Someone claimed ancient Greek is well known & AI could translate the Odyssey with 100% accuracy. Sure, let's find that complete version from 625 BCE, all in the Ionic alphabet. 🤣 Assumptions about ancient texts are funny. The oldest is a copy (of N generations of copies). And translations...
I'm caught up in the drama of an abandoned pet duck in a nearby park. I check every couple of hours, as folks are going to rescue the duck. The fear & trauma animals experience get to me. I've helped rescue animals. It's a great relief when successful. www.reddit.com/r/frederickm...
