Rewatching #Spider-Man:Homecoming while I’m doing laundry, and this is one f the rare cases where they cast a 20 year old to play a 15 year old, and I 100% buy it. Tom Holland really looks like a kid here.

This weekend, tons of gay boys that are around middle school age are seeing Brand New Day, and in a decade or less, a lot of them are gonna have a mask fetish, and this movie will 100% be the reason why.

MTV turning 45 makes me feel as ancient as the Sphinx, as I was 7 years old and fully remember how it started shaping music/fashion/film/almost everything else in pop culture almost overnight. Also, Spidey apparently as relevant as ever 64 years later. Meanwhile MTV, not so much.

#Batman:TheMovie was released 60 years ago, on July 30, 1966. This was literally a cash grab, as Batman premiered on TV in Jan. of ‘66 and became an instant pop culture phenomenon, resulting in a movie that was written, shot, edited, & released in 4 months. But man, what a killer cash grab.

When “Drive” came out, I was obsessed with the soundtrack, especially Kavinsky’s “Night Call.” My (younger & far more hip) buddy turned me on to his EP, then I gobbled up his 2013 album OutRun, playing it to death one summer. He was exactly a year younger than me, which is sobering af. RIP Kavinsky😞

The way fans feel about the 3 cinematic Spider-Men kinda reflects how they feel about DC’s first 3 Robins. Dick Grayson/Tobey - the OG, so for many, the template, Jason Todd/Andrew - a brief, controversial run, only appreciated later, & Tim Drake/Tom Holland - maybe the most generally liked overall

This isn’t a spoiler for Brand New Day really, a movie I loved, but how does Peter Parker make money now? He doesn’t seem to have a job outside being Spidey. Like, how does he pay that NYC rent? If Tony left him $$, would he even have access to that post No Way Home? Yes, I’m overthinking nerd shit.

Tom Holland’s Spidey has done what no previous Spider-Man has ever done before (or any previous Batman or Superman actors for that matter) - he’s had 4 good to great solo movies in a row.
