12 years ago, I was walking through this spine at Lancaster University to attend my PhD viva. I was anxious but it was such a good experience! Today, I celebrate this anniversary and these 12 years in academia on the very same campus (while attending a conference)!

Selenia Anastasi and Federica Formato are presenting a CADS study of an Italian Incel forum. Interesting to see how Southern Italy, particularly, is discursively constructed with clear gendered patterns. Also very great to know a bit about the manosphere in Italy. #CADS2026

When utilized in literature review, LLMs consistently 1. fail to mention female authors in female-led literatures, 2. insist that men are more influential or more heavily cited when this is contradicted by objective citation counts, and 3. attribute women’s work to hallucinated male scholars.

Today, Meloni remembers Giorgio Almirante on the anniversary of his death. He was leader of far right party MSI (precursor to Fratelli d'Italia) & is greatly admired by Meloni. Under Mussolini he edited the periodical "La difesa della razza" aimed at spreading antisemitic sentiment [Thread] >> 1

A reminder that the women of the Iranian national soccer team were forced to return to Iran. They did not leave Australia voluntarily! The fact that Iran is currently being illegally bombed by the U.S. does not, in any way, shape or form, make its regime less authoritarian, brutal, and misogynist!

I applied for some funding for a project that I am really keen on doing (in my hometown in italy and to counteract the anti-gender politics of the government). First round: rejected for not being too ambitious, second round: rejected for being too aspirational. It's very disappointing!
