Always worth remembering the extent to which John Howard diminished our ethics, & scorned humanity. The Tampa travesty was perhaps only outdone by his ‘weapons of mass destruction’ lies & support for subsequent invasion of Iraq. A miserly, misery man

Former government ministers are profiting from their association with massive defence contracts for AUKUS. Pyne. Morrison. Johnston. Fitzgibbon. Beazley. Kelly. We have to close the revolving door between government and industry. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08...

The state of Adelaide’s Elder Park is appalling. Underwhelming buildings including an appalling Casino (designed by Buchan Group) accompanied by a chaotic landscape and the looming Walker Corporation towers (JPW) behind Parliament. Planning Minister Nick Champion is destroying Adelaide.

Anyone familiar with history knows that East Germany was notoriously in favor of Western Europe. They even built a wall to prove it. Tucker is either an idiot, a Russian asset, or both. “Al Capone, on the spectrum of extemely violent mobsters, was firmly on the moderate side.”

Tucker Carlson: "Putin, on the spectrum of Russian politics, is firmly on the moderate side." Glenn Greenwald: "Yes." Tucker: "And Pro-European, and his early career was in Europe, in East Germany as a KGB officer, famously speaks German."

“…but the fact that productivity is so poor in the residential construction sector – that is, it takes vastly more resources to build a house now than it did 30 years ago…” This is nonsense. The ABS COUNTS ALL PREFABRICATION AS MANUFACTURING not construction. www.afr.com/chanticleer/...

Think house price falls are bad? The next shock could be far worse

Plunging property values have seized the national conversation, but Australia’s economic problems run much deeper – as households, sadly, are about to learn.

Absolutely the NCC needs to be carefully reviewed, simplified, consistent across states and internationally benchmarked. Equally that process should absolutely not be driven by political parties and their backers, but by careful research and consideration.

From a tome to a pamphlet: Liberal vows to demolish building code

Opposition housing spokesperson Andrew Bragg has promised to slash the National Construction Code from over 2,000 pages to 80 if elected.

The Prod Com truly knows nothing about the house building industry. They don’t realise a factory built house is considered “manufacturing” by the ABS. All prefabricated components, including frames, roof trusses, windows, doors doorframes and joinery are manufacturing, not “construction”.
