I rode Vail Pass this weekend. It was emotional, I spent a lot of time remembering my mom. She passed away last year and this was one of her favorite rides. I know she'd be ecstatic to see me complete this climb. She told me to "never stop moving". I may be slow, but I'm moving. Miss you, Mom.

Some more images from Monday's storm chase. Weird occlusions, a landspout base and stacked shelfs. @ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social spotted elk between Akron and Brush, Colorado. I've never seen elk out that far, though they once did before Colorado was a state #CoWX.
@ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social and I found a perfect spot yesterday to see this amazing horizontal vortex in front of a hailstorm near Wray, Colorado. Click to embiggen, hopefully Bluesky goes full resolution.
Got to photograph some fun dudes the other night! Always a joy to photograph The Koffin Kats
Last night was much needed aurora therapy for me. I will never tire of seeing these magical lights
Aurora Borealis comes into view - A Flock of Seagulls Impressive substorm last night. Waited for hours for 20 minutes of dazzling lights, well worth it I'd say
Just like that...I've become a middle aged bird watcher...
Sometimes the best storms are the quiet surprises that no one pays attention to. This was a little sub severe storm in mid May last summer near DIA
I present to you a master class of laziness. I never left my car for any of these shots. Thank you to my window mount and sunroof 🙂
Despite being sick with COVID (again) I couldn't miss this magical evening with my old friend, Lady Aurora
I've never had a LinkedIn - until now...so if you get a random invite from me on there do not be alarmed, it's just me joining the 20th century
Throwback to one of my favorite chases in one of my favorite places August 2024 Pawnee National Grasslands
We are not going to take it anymore! NO KINGS!! Me in my original ANTIFA uniform meeting Dee Snider many moons ago.
Went on another "applying for PhDs and/or research positions" spree. Knocked out 13 applications in <3 hours...I think the grand total is up to ~60 total applications since July. BTW, if anyone is looking for a neuroimaging analyst, let me know!! Here's some lightning from earlier today
What does one do when one gets laid off? Flies to LA to photograph one's favorite band of course!
Sudden change of weekend plans...I'm off to LA to see Bruce Dickinson and the House Band of Hell at The Wiltern for their final show of the North American tour!!
Definitely had to pinch myself last night...I got to photograph my number one artist of all time. I've been a fan of Bruce Dickinson longer than I've been a fan of Iron Maiden. I've waited over 20 years to see this man tour his solo material, and he was finally in my hometown last night.
