Has issues. Is curmudgeonly. Enjoys his work. Loud bark. No bite.

“But it wasn’t simply a desire to expand the government that drove the creation of federal taxes; it was also a straightforward urge to make wealthy rentiers less wealthy.” About the 16th amendment (federal taxes) From a New Yorker piece by Nicholas Lemann. I love seeing the term “rentier.”

If Trump and Hegseth keep waging this war with Iran any better, we're gonna have armed Houthis on the coastline between Galveston and Beaumont and and drones blowing up that-ass big pipeline between Midland and Corpus Christi.

When I witness someone making coffee using a melitta (or similar) filter, but not practicing the method detailed in the film “Diva,” I rage inside. I’d guide them into an open elevator shaft, were the opportunity to present itself. Should I be concerned with my state of mind? I think not.

From The New Yorker (nothing to be concerned about): “Fifteen years later, China has more than a hundred automakers, competing for customers with such extravagant features as in-car karaoke, mechanical foot massagers, and video headlights that can project drive-in movies.” Yipes

Every and any vote for Todd Blanche is a vote for grown men fucking underage girls with legal impunity. This is a sentence that contains no hyperbole and that is nonetheless shocking and debilitating to write. That's how depraved this administration is.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

I know everyone’s making their jokes, but to be real: it’s an American sickness that the media and political class are praising someone who has spent last year calling for a genocide. Lindsay Graham was the worst of us. He wanted the blood of children to flow in the streets of Gaza and got his wish.

1) Interesting "Dems Not in Disarray" front-page framing. 2) Point Dems need to keep making: -Virtually every Dem leader has now come out publicly against Platner. -Virtually every GOP party leader still all-in for Ken Paxton. (And, of course, for Trump) This is not a "both sides" situation.

NYT headline: Platner's Fall Might Just Help Democrats Win Swing State."
