Leaving a shallow bowl of fresh water outside can make a real difference to foxes, birds, hedgehogs, insects and other wildlife. Remember to refresh it regularly and keep it somewhere shaded and safe. Please share, and encourage others to do the same 💧

Salford pioneered play streets, traffic-free from 8am till sunset (borrowed from New York) in the 1930s. Legislation followed: there were 700 in England and Wales in the 1950s, all but forgotten by the 1980s.

I can't remember who suggested reading a book set somewhere that you're visiting but it was a good idea. I think there's something important in this novel that I missed but I admired the writing and strong sense of location. #BookSky

Cover of the book The Gorgeous Inertia of the Earth by Adrian Duncan.

PLEASE SHARE THIS To the young person (longish dark hair, patterned waistcoat, chinos & DM boots) who left this scroll of papers on the Piccadilly Line train at South Kensington station at about 4.25pm today, I’ve handed it to the station staff at Hammersmith.

Final stage of our Italian adventure and a delayed trip to Bologna. Buzzy and interesting place to be. The many miles of collanade walkways are welcome in the 32° + temps.

Several landmarks in Bologna. Neptune statue, cathedral, towers and square.

Not on the Booker list but Keshed is so, so worthy of a read. It's stuck with me and one I am quick to recommend to others. #BookSky

Short thread (on the fact that the huge Instagram clamouring for Keshed to be on the Booker listed ended with, of course, it not being listed. Wanna say again, HUGE props to Henry @ortacpress.bsky.social for publishing Keshed, and I'm glad this has put em on the radar of a lot more people.
