Based on a vet’s long-ago guess, my cat is now twenty years old I am not sure what that equates to in human years, but I think I aspire to be as spry and in control when I reach a similar age

I’m gonna say virtually all authors need to get serious about textiles. Who is weaving them? Out of what? Who’s turning them into clothes and how much does it cost and do you have any idea how HARD all of that was before modern mills

Once that happens, you're too fuzzy & clumsy to catch yourself. It's a spiral. And that means our big yellow flag for heat stress on the farm is what we call "The Heat Stupids."

Huh. Seems like 8/2 cotton weaving yarn is a decent substitute for sashiko thread. They are not the same, but the latter is a lot harder to find in my area
I am not sure which my younger self loathed more as I learned it: cursive or touch typing. Daily life would be a lot harder without those skills and the dexterity they forced me to develop. To be fair, my handwriting is at best idiosyncratic. At least I can type it up speedily if necessary?
