Hard to say how big this one will get. Can't see it ending anytime soon.

Yikes. What a story. It's always seemed like a trivial and unnecessary formality when a recruiter does a formal background check. But, hey, I guess this is why. (Also, if I were the hiring manager here, I'd be having a serious conversation with any references I spoke to about this guy.)

As a grad student in Berkeley in the late 1970s, in a seminar on "great scientific papers," I selected Tonegawa's 1976 PNAS paper that demonstrated that genomic DNA rearrangement generates antibody diversity. This discovery was completely unexpected and anti-paradigmatic at the time.

A quick word on Taco Bell: That's where we found the suspected lettuce, and it's not bc Taco Bell is gross. It's bc Taco Bell is REALLY GOOD at tracing product! Keeping track of exactly where they got their ingredients, & exactly what restaurants each shipment of ingredients went to!
This beauty is a Yellowjacket, another gem from Employees Only. Reposado tequila, St-German elderflower liqueur, Yellow Chartreuse, and a dash of Regan’s Orange Bitters. Exceedingly tasty, changed quite a bit over time.

I have vivid memories of celebrating the Bicentennial on Boston Common. What a joyous day that was. Everyone -- and I mean EVERYONE, from hippies to Vietnam vets -- was out celebrating together. This thing we're doing this year? It's, um, different. I guess we can't have nice things anymore.
