Thinking about driving your race-car in fursuit? Have you already? Royal Pontiac in Royal Oak, MI. beat you to it by about 60 years! The setup was: Two identical '66 GTOs were sent to drag strips. One would be driven by the "Mystery Tiger", the other by a spectator. The tiger usually won.
Does your cat sleep on your costume parts? Mine sure does. Sometimes she'll crawl into my suit bag with the suit and sleep there. True story - I accidentally took her with me to a gig once! ( I didn't know she was in there till I was unpacking my suit to get dressed!).

Here's another for the #notsowellknownmascots files! Meet Loulou and Louloutre, the otter mascots for Valcartier Village in Quebec, Canada! These two cheerful souls are part of a trio ( can't find a pic of the third otter) that appear all year long at the resort.
When people say "How do you deal with the heat?" when I'm doing a gig in costume, I reply: "I knew the job was dangerous when I took it!"
Mowed the lawn today (since the temp was below 100f for a change), and likely chucked a blade on the riding mower. I got this mower for free, and I'm guessing the mower deck has had zero maintenance prior to my ownership. I'm preparing to have to rebuild the whole dang thing. I'll know tomorrow.

For #fursuitfriday Kookie on the summit of Pikes Peak! It was late July of 2010 when this was taken, but it was 38 degrees (f) at the top! ( this was taken during a break in the snow!). Also, this is the second "14er" Kookie has been to the top of! Not bad for a 30 yr old suit! (1996!)
Just in time for #WheelstandWednesday! This week is Jack Ditmar's "Lil' Screamer" '34 Ford coupe, hoisting 'em at the legendary Lions Drag Strip circa 1968. This car was a BEAST! Even cooler is that it's recently been restored to its original condition.
Funny story: I was in costume on my way to get some outdoor pics in downtown Calgary, when I was hailed by an RCMP patrol car. (for real!) I thought I was in trouble, but all they officers wanted was their picture taken with me! (Yukon King, the RCMP Husky, from Costume-Con 19, 2001)

Watching "Chasing the Moon" on American Experience. (on PBS) After all these years, the Apollo Program still blows my mind as much as it did when I was a wee lad watching it on TV.
Today's "Obscure Defunct Mascots" entry(s) are the mascots for the ill-fated Hard Rock Park. Meet "The Bear Metal Family, (Heavy Dad, Maiden Mom, Glamour Girl, and Speed Boy), and Winston the Punk-Rock Bulldog. Their life was sadly very short. They existed for just 5 months befor the park closed.

I actually made it to the 4th of July this year without spending any time in the hospital! It's the first time in four years, as I've spent the last three "4ths" in a hospital bed, and I'm perfectly happy to just stay home tonight.
