At the beach earlier this evening. Looks like all of the Bank Swallows have fledged. Part of the cliff has eroded, revealing some of the nesting materials that would have been further inside the holes. So many feathers from much larger birds! #SpeciesAtRisk

We watched the new He-man movie and it was fun! I like how they interpreted the original cartoon and toyline. It‘s a bit of a balancing act —how serious/goofy/violent, but I think they pulled it off well.

We have a flower! This Aptenia Cordifolia was a “tester” plant we received this Spring. It’s been living on the patio table, so I can’t take any credit for it surviving/thriving. Had no idea it flowered like this.

On that note, how many of us came to love classical music through Bugs Bunny? My point is: you don't have to come to these subjects through traditional channels! There are many ways into art and history and music.

Some academics turn up their noses at movie adaptations or popular history books, but I call them "gateway drugs" into deeper scholarship. How many of us fell in love with history because a movie (or book) sparked our curiosity first? For me, it was Amadeus - it sent me down an 18thC rabbit hole.

I drew so much as a kid my parents couldn’t buy lots of sketchbooks so they’d just get me packs of printer paper. Sometimes they’d get dot matrix paper and I’d use it to make really long scenes and comics. Limitations can lead to more creativity so just use whatever is available to you!
