I think this is a good and compassionate take from Keezy. However, publishing contracts usually contain clauses that specifically say any accusations of academic misconduct, plagiarism, inaccuracy etc are on you, the author, not on them, the publisher. Here is what I think happened--

okay it's been 24 hours and I'm ready to have a take on the comics vs academia conversation: ultimately--but not legally, necessarily, which is a problem imo--the publisher and editors are at fault here. they could have, and should have, flagged that this was a problem. that's *their job*
