I was a teenager for the bicentennial celebration in 1976. It was a year of patriotic, non-partisan activities throughout the country. It was joyful and I felt energized from head to toe. I’m alive for the semi quincentennial, and I don’t have those good feelings this time. 😢

I’m doing some “light” reading over the holiday weekend. I was a young adult when the steel industry was dying in Pittsburgh. I remember KDKA anchor Bill Burns covering the decline. Many names in this book are familiar. I’m just fascinated by local labor history.
