CFF is the only genre fest that kept virtual access post-pandemic AND screens out AI users. They also run as a nonprofit and could really use the financial support! There's some wonderfully mindbending stuff this year and one of their features is sitting as my film to beat for 2026.

So thanks to seeing this post, I decided to try Qobuz since they pay slightly more rotaltues than Tidal and have an AI policy. Moved my tracks over and while I lost a few things, this is the only streamer that still has Naatu Naatu and that is worth its weight in gold. SOLD.

Tasteful presentation, good editorial features, a focus on audio quality, transparent AI policies, & a free trial of Soundiiz to transfer your Spotify stuff.
Think I'm gonna cope with the Paramount news by giving @diabolikdvd.bsky.social some more money.
How I feel every time someone shouts out Kanopy as just requiring a library card. NYPL killed their Kanopy partnership years ago because of the cost. Queens technically has access but to such a limited selection it's not worthwhile. At least Hoopla is available.

It's always exciting to hit upon an author whom, with the first book you've read, you're ready to put all their works on your to-read list. Just discovered @nuzo.bsky.social through her recent book Futility. Nigerian folk horror done with a mean, humorous bite. Loved this.

I saw something similar in the end credits for Tinsman Road when it screened at Brooklyn Horror Fest. It got a huge round of cheers and applause. It really earns the filmmakers some goodwill to make clear their stance.

There's a hunger to support artists who eschew AI *and* include unambiguous messaging.
