David Byrne in Edinburgh tonight was the most visually stunning show I think I’ve seen since The Fall collaborated with Michael Clark’s ballet company at the festival in 1988. Marching musicians, creative dancers/vocalists and the great man himself, strong and thoughtful.

This looks amazing. Can’t wait to visit!

Here's my @heraldscotland.bsky.social piece on the amazing art deco cinema in Prestwick I posted about the other day - it has shown its first feature film in 50 years, its projectors have been restored, it has a Wurlitzer organ & a pop up museum open to the public. Such a great community effort.

Last time I was in the art deco Broadway cinema in Prestwick, the town I grew up in, the community group regenerating it had just been given the keys to the neglected building. Today, as part of a private members event, they showed a film for the 1st time in 50 years. Was thrilling to be there.

Good to see some traditions survive. Copies of The Herald on sale in the cloisters at Glasgow Uni so you can see your kid’s name in print. Well, as long as they haven’t ticked the no publicity box.

No marquees in our day (38 years ago!). At a very hot Glasgow Uni for the graduation of our youngest.
