“I’ve long supported a fundamental reset of the upper house” Paul Sweeney MSP sets out his idea of a restructured upper chamber at Westminster, suggesting that legislators should “fundamentally have a mandate that has been democratically expressed”.
Great to visit @partickthistle.bsky.social Charitable Trust today to hear about the fantastic work they're doing for local kids over summer. They're feeding over 100 kids every day and provide sports, crafts and other activities. Thanks to all the amazing staff and volunteers who make it possible!
From Rochdale in 1844 to Downing Street today. For the first time in history, a Labour and Co-operative politician leads the country. Congratulations to Andy Burnham, Britain's first Labour and Co-operative Prime Minister. 🐝

Great to see such a high turnout on Saturday to protest the impending closure of Queen's Park Glasshouse. The glasshouse is a cherished part of our community, holding generations of memories for many residents and families. Its loss would be a significant blow to local heritage and culture.
Public transport should work for people, not profit. That’s why public ownership matters - delivering integrated, reliable and affordable services that put communities first.

No one in Scotland should live in fear due to the colour of their skin of their religious belief. The displays of hate witnessed in the city are the antithesis of the compassionate and welcoming spirit of Glasgow, and will not be tolerated.
Labour's @paulsweeney.bsky.social says the first duty of MSPs is to their constituents "not American neo-Nazis on social media". He says some MSPs have "sought to fan the flames of division" with the talk of 'strangers' and calls for further protests.
The impending closure of Queen's Park Glasshouse due to @srucnews.bsky.social leaving is disappointing. I have a keen interest in Glasgow's hothouses. There is an interesting proposal in development. www.heraldscotland.com/news/26166410.fresh-hope-glasgows-queens-park-glasshouse-amid-closure-plans

The loss of trust is clear. The Prime Minister should now set out a clear timetable for his departure. #LabourParty #Labour
Really important that Scottish Labour actually acknowledges the constitutional unrest in Scotland rather than just pretend that 2024 means we don't have to think about it anymore. Good on @paulsweeney.bsky.social for bringing some much needed reality to the situation.
NEW: A Labour MSP has backed a cross party convention to "settle" the issue of a second independence referendum trigger.
Congrats @paulsweeney.bsky.social - Scottish Labour can’t afford to lose any more talent. And he’s right, the party needs fundamental change.
