Excited to share our first look at Enterococcus faecium infection biology: diabetic wounds are complex, and E. faecium persists despite early immune responses. In diabetic mice, it shows impaired clearance + sustained neutrophil recruitment, worsening healing.

Points to a specific but I think meaningful immunity gap against two of the pathogens tested - strep A and RSV in 3-4 y olds. Age specific increment in anti Strep antibodies as you might hope. Just less in those post 2020. Preprint of interest to many of us in @ispylifenetwork.bsky.social

Why did invasive #strepA infections increase in young children after the pandemic? In this new @imperialinfect.bsky.social PREPRINT *not peer-reviewed* we look at antibody responses to #strepA and resp viruses in European children before and after the pandemic: www.medrxiv.org/cgi/content/...

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... a nice step forward but annoyingly inconsistent as some “pathogens” are species (eg Lassa) and others are whole orders of viruses (Flaviviridae). I think there’s better way to focus people. Interesting are those not on it though.
