It's deeply frustrating, having written a good deal about tarot art, seeing the kickstarter market saturated with AI art decks. Most of them never get funded, but there's so many low effort designs getting in the way of more serious approaches.

Optimist: the glass is half full Pessimist: the glass is half empty The J. Peterman Catalog: Afternoon on the Riviera. 1972. Her French is better than yours. Her English, too. She sits across from you, and people stare. "I'm supposed to be at a shoot right now." She's halfway through her Madeira.

[handing the bartender my credit card] m’boy… this rectangle contains within it infinite wealth… but its use, in turn, comes at a price. you are welcome, if just for a moment, to hold this priceless artifact. in ancient times, they called it the “chase sapphire”

The thing that’s driving me insane is that oil markets are still trading on the presumption that this will normalize soon. They’re scraping sludge off the bottoms of the tanks in Cushing, but every other day, they continue to run optimistic headlines, and bet on nothing more than hopes and dreams.

this is all so fucking instructive if they would take a step back and learn something. you cannot let this happen ever again. when you are weak and crumbling, you cannot revive your prospects by painting everything gold and declaring a victorious golden age. it makes it look even weaker and rotted

I think there’s a solemn/gruesome problem with bluesky which is, tech no longer wants to coexist with the arts. Nothing we do here makes money because capital still selects for the direct capture platforms. The economy of all of us paying each other is self-defeating. We need real fucking buy-in.
