Talking about public control is just tinkering and on Thames Water he’s even tinkering with the tinkering by backtracking. If he wants hope: tax the wealthy, take water back under public ownership, bring in rent controls & no to new North Sea drilling. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

More public control is only way to grow UK economy, Burnham to tell MPs

Exclusive: Prime minister wants to ‘bring back hope’ by tackling cost of living as MPs call for electoral reform

Remember when the Panama papers got released and we saw proof the world was run by unimaginably wealthy, tax dodging bastards? Then there was Epstein and we found out most of them were nonses too? All those people are still running the world.

Who exactly is it that is “creating a permission structure” here? Is it only Labour MPs alone, do we think, or are they getting significant help from outside agencies? What should we call it, if there’s close cooperation on core government policy the public hates, across almost all media outlets?

Just going to repost this Times journo talking about how Labour ministers and party hacks have, behind the scenes, been working very hard on the explicit project of “creating a permission structure for Labour to make welfare cuts”.

Pure unadulterated Thatcherite economics here from the Chancellor of the Exchequer, John Healey. No change here, just the same old bollocks we've been having thrown at us for the 50 years. Burnham thinks this is what change looks like. #MMT

It’s the bedrock for economic stability,” he said. “We simply can’t deal with the problems we face as a country by maxing out the country’s credit card.”

Healey quit defence because the Treasury claimed it was "unwilling" to commit resources. Now he's chancellor and still can't commit them. The constraint was never money. It's always been politics dressed up as fiscal prudence. #MMT #Economics #UKPolitics #UKEconomics

🎉 A historic win for Greens in Dover. ✊🏽 We will always take the fight and win against Reform, Restore or whatever the far-right call themselves. 💚 We will always champion our communities. We will always put people before profit.

Poll showing greens beating reform 28.8 to 27.5

Right now the government is putting our communities, our water security and our climate ambitions second to the demands of tech giants. It's time to slam the brakes on water-guzzling, energy hungry datacentres.

Greens call for temporary ban on new data centres

In Britain, an elderly female priest, Rev Sue Parfitt, was arrested under Labour's law for holding a placard. In the US, a civil court judged their President to have raped E Jean Carroll. And he's now preparing to follow in Labour's footsteps. Are you proud of that, Mr Burnham?

Labour’s ludicrous ban has made Britain a laughing stock around the world. To everyone that is apart from Donald Trump. www.politico.com/news/2026/08...

In the Green Party any member can propose a policy - it's part of our constitution & the rest of the membership decide to debate it or not. When the media present that as the Green Party "proposing" a policy they're misleading you - worth asking why the billionaire press constantly attack us.

Karl Marx famously said you can't have Capitalism and Democracy. And you see it is impossible, as he knew, to have Democracy when all your Politicians are bribed and all your Media is owned by the richest.

Because I've spent a lot of time in the paleogenomics space, I've been watching this new iteration of race science develop in real time over the past 15 or so years (same guys, in a lot of cases). I was really hoping it would disappear on its own, but we're really gonna have to fight this battle.

This is IMO the full appeal of LLMs to middle management: you never bothered to learn how to put a table in a Word document. Now, you will never have to, because you are a superior human. Behold: a table in Word, so it was ordained.

Show these dim bulbs that Copilot can build tables in their Word documents, so that they do not have to do something as simple as pit a table in a Word document, and they are fucking wowed and sold. This is incredible, this is the technology of tomorrow.
